4 important tips to keep you safe

Without getting too technical about pool chemicals, you would have heard words like: disinfectants, oxidising agents, stabilisers and sanitising agents, along with good old chlorine.

There are some chemicals that have the ability to react with each other with some pretty nasty effects including fire and explosions. These reactions can be spontaneous at either room temperature or with slight heating.

Some pool chemicals can also be corrosive to both metal and our body. The effect on human tissue and metals depends on the chemical and the concentration so we want you to be as safe as possible to enjoy your pool. Here are four important tips to keep you safe:

  1. Always read chemical labels
  2. Never mix chemicals, even if they are the same brand
  3. Always add chemicals to water… not the other way around
  4. NEVER smoke around pool chemicals.

The chemicals used in and around your pool are perfectly safe to use if they are stored in a well ventilated cool dry place in closed containers out of the reach of children (and pets) and when handled correctly with appropriate personal protective equipment (especially glasses and gloves). We want to help make sure there are no nasty accidents so you can enjoy your pool with minimal fuss. Take care when handling all chemicals and always wash your hands with plenty of fresh water when you have finished and please especially avoid contact with your skin and eyes.

Remember… if you are not 100% sure how to handle any of your pool chemicals see your local pool shop for all the correct advice. Stay safe.

Expert Tip: Make sure you have your resuscitation chart clear and visible in your pool area, not only in many parts of Australia it is a requirement, it can help you in a time of need to avoid panic and give lifesaving help.

Daisy’s search for the perfect bubble

ONCE UPON A TIME, Aussie families had no other choice but to use pool covers that used to fail badly and leave little pool cover circles in the pool when they came to the end of their life. This pre-UltraDome bubble shape created unwanted weak points causing premature disintegration of their entire pool covers.

Australia’s favourite pool cover, Daisy, knew something had to change. In search of the perfect bubble size, shape and material, Daisy underwent years of pool cover modelling, testing and analysis.

Some years later Daisy introduced the award-winning UltraDome bubble!

The special UltraDome bubble shape gave the ultimate material flow during manufacture and consistent thickness throughout the bubble and also eliminated the weak points. With 1/3 of total material in the top layer and 2/3 in the bottom layer, these covers were stronger and lasted much longer than other standard ones.

Even though Aussie families were satisfied with the performance of their pool cover bubbles, Daisy came to realise how important it was in allowing the sun’s energy to pass easily through the cover to enter the water. “Ah huh! With less energy being used to pass through, the more energy there would be available to warm the water,” mused Daisy.

With this, Daisy went back to the workshop to invent a new transparent bubble to maximise heat and retention. After much toil, the very latest in pool cover technology was brought to the industry by Daisy this year with the launch of UltraDome+. UltraDome+ was a winning layer combination as only UltraDome+ bubbles showcased a unique clear top and a specially formulated translucent bottom. And to this day, the UltraDome+ Titanium range has been a hot seller with huge demand. Daisy loved seeing the photos of happy customers with their new Titanium pool cover installations being posted on Facebook and positive feedback being emailed directly. S8 Green: The standard Series 8 Green has been superseded and is now being supplied as Titanium Green.

S8 SS Solar Screen: With the UltraDome+ Titanium technology, Daisy is currently designing and testing a product upgrade of this solar screen range.

Advances with this new non-heating technology are:

  • a new non-heating opaque material
  • with evaporation and a unique cooling control

3 rules for quoting customers

Your customers look to you as being the Expert who can offer them the right solution to their specific pool-related problem. Experience tells us that when you give a tailored, decisive solution and an accurate quote, it increases your chance of converting sales.

As a start, it’s always important to ask your customer about their issue or desires first, listen to what they have to say and then address their concerns while providing them with an accurate quote.

Daisy has made quoting pool covers so easy! We use square meter pricing! All you have to do is measure the pool, then multiply the length by the width, and then by the square meter price. Learn about our best practice rules for quoting customers.

Square meter pricing – a quick guide

So a Series 3 pool cover for a 6.3 x 2.2 meter pool is: 6.3 x 2.2 x $9.55 = $132.36 retail price (RRP) for the pool cover.

At Daisy, we can do any size so even a Series 8 cover for a 16.4 x 6.6m pool is the same: 16.4 x 6.6 x $16.80 = $1,818.43 RRP.

Customers look to you for the solution. Here’s what to do:

  1. Simply ask what they are trying to achieve, listen, and then address their concerns and desires with your solution. Giving them the time to listen and the tailored solution removes any price objections.
  2. Supply solutions and pricing when you are quoting.
  3. Get used to being able to price any pool cover by knowing the m2 price of even just the Series 8… $16.80 m2.

Expert Tip:

When ordering, please just give us the pool size to make the pool cover without adding in any extra to allow for trimming the pool cover. Daisy adds on extra material in the length and width to give ample material to trim to the pool shape.

With overwhelming market approval for the latest Titanium Green (S8+ TG) pool covers, we have discontinued the old Series 8 Green product and now only supply the new Titanium Green.

With this latest evolution and our ongoing commitment to improving our products, we have also made new Green Eyelets to suit the unique Titanium Green material.

Last call before Christmas

Orders for pre-Christmas deliveries right up to 17th December

It’s been a cracking start to the season and by now we are already looking towards Christmas for a small reprieve (phew). It’s only our guess that few industries around Australia have been as busy as the pool industry!

You’ll be pleased to hear that Daisy does not close down over the Christmas period; except for the public holidays. We will be receiving, processing and dispatching all orders as they are received.

To ensure you receive your deliveries before the jolly man slides down the chimney, last expected pre-Christmas deliveries will need to be dispatched by 18th December so orders will need to be processed by 17th at the latest.

Ho! Ho! Ho! As the hard working Daisy elves will be dispatching all the way up to and over the Christmas period, most orders dispatched from 21st and 22nd may well be delivered before the big day.

However just so you know, even though delivery times may blow out while the transport companies recover from their Christmas pudding, Daisy will still work to our usual turnaround time of a day or two to custom make and dispatch your orders.

Supporting this is a full-on digital marketing and social media campaign and of course, your point of sale tools. Have you got the A5 tent cards we sent displayed in your store? The pocket cards are also for you to keep in your pocket or in-store to help you start the conversation with your customers, and even your friends and family.

Feel free to give them away to encourage them to participate. There’s a very cool Apple Watch to be won each month! Spread the news!

That’s right! If one of your customers wins they get an Apple Watch and $500 of pool stuff to spend in store with you. Daisy will pay you $500 for your customer to use in store in any way they want… pool servicing, products and more; as long as you sell it they can buy it.

Ramping up production earlier this year to meet high demand

With so many of the states and regions around Australia enjoying beautiful spring (well more like summer) weather, and the threatened El Nino expected to bring higher than average temperatures and lower than average rainfall throughout much of the eastern seaboard this year; the start of the summer season has been a busy time for Daisy.

Daisy has seen solid demand through most parts of Australia with an overall positive and enthusiastic outlook for not only the summer season but for the whole economy as well.

With such a positive outlook for this summer, along with the popular launch of our latest UltraDome+, Daisy is in full summer production a bit earlier this year to meet the increased demand. Don’t forget we’re here to help you capitalise on sales in as many ways as we can from innovative new products, awesome promotions, to quality service!

Customers having experienced our exceptionally speedy same day service during the quieter months may notice a slight change back to standard delivery times during the busy season. Regardless, you will still be blown away with our quality service and attentiveness.

Tracking and delivery

At this time of year, freight companies are approaching their peak period as well. This means they have a higher workload so we also work together and keep an eye on turnaround and performance.

Daisy invoices your order on the day it leaves the factory, either in Sydney or Perth. Pro-forma invoices are emailed when the order is input into the system; actual invoices are emailed straight after dispatch. If you notice a prolonged delivery timeframe from invoice date, just let us know so we can follow up on the delivery for you.

New Dig Template sales tool for you!

Take risk out of the equation for your new pool owners

Fibreglass pool installers find our Daisy Dig Templates useful in helping to accurately set out the pool location and mark out the dig on fibreglass pools.

Dig Templates are traditionally black in colour and made out of durable polyethylene (PE) material. As black is sometimes difficult to visualise as pool water, we’ve developed something new!

Sales Templates are now available in translucent blue PE material. The improved colour has been designed to make it easier for new pool owners to visualise the pool installed in their backyard. With the data collected from the pool shell we can make the templates the perfect sales tool while measuring up at a potential customer’s yard. They can even be used as the dig template to pre-cut to the pool’s exact shape.
