Daisy’s 2014/15 #bestsplashchallenge – a whole summer of fun!

With the summer swimming season almost here, we’re further investing in our marketing to help you sell more by taking a plunge with a big splash!

Commencing 1st November 2014, the Daisy BEST SPLASH Challenge – #bestsplashchallenge will kick off nationally, set to be a 2014/15 summer campaign like no one else has done in our industry!

What’s it all about?
The #bestsplashchallenge will run over three months from 1 November 2014 to 31 January 2015 using the on-trend digital mediums in Facebook, Instagram and paid online advertising. We will start generating awareness of it with a teaser campaign starting 1st October.

To enter, participants simply take an awesome photo or video of their BEST SPLASH and hashtag it with #bestsplashchallenge. They can upload it to the Daisy Pool Covers Facebook page and/ or Instagram. By doing this, their BEST SPLASH will stand a chance to win the latest Black Edition GoPro Hero camera. There’s one to be won each month.

And there’s more! The overall winner will win $2000 worth of pool maintenance and supplies from their local Daisy Expert. Daisy will pay for this and you get the winner, publicity and business if they live near you!

Helping us to help you! To promote this, we’ve created and mailed out to you flyers and tent cards that can be placed on your counters and near high traffic areas. The supporting flyer helps explain the Challenge.

This promotion is on-trend and fun! It helps build interest into our market sector and drive sales. We hope that you’ll support this by:
1.    Displaying the point of sale material – please do ask us for more if you need it
2.    Promoting and encouraging entry with your customers – if they win, you get the business and the publicity!

The detail! You can learn more about the #bestsplashchallenge official rules by visiting our special BEST SPLASH page on our website bestsplashchallenge.com.au. Feel free to also catch up with your Daisy Area Manager for the latest updates on the campaign as we lead into summer.

As our valued Daisy Experts, we’d like to thank you for your valued support of Daisy, Australia’s largest supplier of pool covers and rollers. We hope this campaign adds a splash of fun as well as business to your summer season!

Five Things To Consider When Warming Up For The Summer

  1. With drought forecasted for South East Queensland (SEQ) and Northern NSW, we can predict that water is going to be scarce again this summer
  2. With a more inviting swimming season, there will be more people bathing, and more evaporation
  3. To save water evaporation, put a cover on your pool to warm the water which will allow you to start swimming sooner
  4. The average backyard pool will lose over its entire volume of water in evaporation over summer…
  5. Why not keep your pool covered with a Daisy, it’ll stop 97% of evaporation.

For more info on saving evaporation, check out our website: www.daisypoolcovers.com.au

Daisy Makes a Splash!

The team at Daisy made a great SPLASH! at the largest pool and spa trade show in Australia, held 16-17th July!

There was strong national and international representation from a range of sectors at the Show; from retailers right through to builders and designers.

Our Daisy representatives and territory managers, Brett, Lee and John, manned the Daisy booth over the two-day Show. They were kept busy with lots of visitors interested in all that’s new at Daisy, with our Daisy Power electricrollers proving popular. There was also lots of interest in learning about our unique technology behind what seems to be a humble pool cover and roller!

Overall sentiment from Show goers on the upcoming season was positive. With the summer ahead, we’re looking forward to a great season with Aussie families loving their pools!

A big thanks to all involved for their support!

Attention NSW Pool Owners

Attention all our NSW fans:

Time is running out for New South Wales swimming and spa pool owners to register their pools with the state or local government – you only have until 29 October! Failing to register means fines, and could impact your ability to sell or lease your house.

For more information, check the NSW pool registration website.

QLD Water Commission Ceases

From 1 January 2013, the Queensland Water Commission ceased operations.

The Queensland Water Commission provided independent policy advice to Government on South East Queensland regional water security, demand and supply options.

Its policy functions moved to the Department of Energy and Water Supply (DEWS) and its planning and regulatory functions (including setting water restrictions) are now the responsibility of the new bulk water supply authority, SEQwater, and the SEQ council water businesses (distributor-retailers).

Water restrictions and efficiency management plans

The last remaining water restrictions in South East Queensland (SEQ) were lifted on 1 January 2013.

The government, together with SEQwater and the SEQ Council water businesses will consider and develop a new long-term restriction framework and consult with the SEQ community.

The requirement for water efficiency management plans (WEMPs) for large water-using businesses was also lifted on 1 January 2013. However, water service providers will contact businesses directly about any changes or local requirements.

The amended Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008 allows SEQ water service providers to impose restrictions or require WEMPs where they consider these necessary.

The water savings targets for new houses and commercial and industrial buildings, which included rainwater tanks, have been reviewed. Changes to the water savings targets in Queensland Development Code MP4.2 and 4.3 are expected in 2013. More information about water saving targets can be found on the Department of Housing and Public Works website.

Water security

From 1 January 2013 SEQwater is responsible for the operation of all bulk water infrastructure.

SEQwater will be required to develop a water security program for SEQ. The desired levels of service will be set out in the System Operating Plan (SOP) Version 5 (PDF, 374KB). SOP version 5 will continue to apply until a regulation is made prescribing the revised desired levels of service.

The SEQ water market and market rules / Bulk Water Supply Code

The Bulk Water Supply Code regulates the supply of bulk services such as the supply of water and water services from 1 January 2013. The Bulk Water Supply Code was made by the Minister for Energy and Water Supply under section 360M of the Water Act 2000. The Code replaces the SEQ water market rules.

Customer code and wastewater code

The Amendments made by the SEQ Water (Restructuring) and Other Legislation Amendment 2012 have omitted the responsibility of the QWC to advise the Minister on the Customer Water and Wastewater code. DEWS is responsible for the code from 1 January 2013.
