Over Cover Strap for High Wind

From time to time, in the right location with the right winds, the white over cover protecting the pool cover can be blown around the cover, even making a nuisance of itself regardless of tying the centre cord.

We have been asked a for a strap with clips on it similar to the commercial pool cover straps. We have made a high quality, UV resistant strap with side release clips that are fully adjustable to go around the pool cover and over cover while it is rolled up on the roller. The new part #324 is now available. Straps are sold separately.

The high wind over cover straps are an extension of all the extra services that Daisy does – from extra finishings onto domestic covers to make handling easier and better, to making covers look neater with commercial finishes. Daisy does all the design work with you for domestic, semi-commercial or full commercial solutions.

When Size Matters – Leading the Commercial Sector

Daisy is Australia’s largest supplier of commercial pool covers and rollers with over 30 years’ experience in this sector. “We have always brought to the table well researched and tested products. For the commercial sector, it is important that we not only understand the market trends in design and technology but that we translate this to cost efficiency through improved product quality and deliver the service expected” said Managing Director, Derek Prince.

Brett will be supported by the existing Daisy team including Area Managers. Shannon Prince will step up to the role of NSW (South) & Victorian Area Manager. The positive is that our retailers have more support available when needed, along with specialist skills.

New ThermoTech Insulating Foam Range

With innovation and continuous improvement at its core, Daisy has always brought to the table well researched and tested products. After extensive R&D, we are pleased to announce the launch of the new 4.5mm thick foam range of pool covers suitable for both residential and commercial pools.

Continuous improvement in quality

Representing a 50% increase in thickness from the current 3mm product, the new product will increase thermal resistance (R value) and also durability.

Maintained in the same superior physically crosslinked polyolefin foam sandwiched between two layers of UV stabilised, polyethylene based polyfabric Canvacon film – making the cover reversible in the right installations. The layers are flame bonded (top and bottom) together and are extremely resistant to delamination, even at high temperatures.

The closed cell foam layer provides excellent insulation and water repellence properties and is resistant to chemical degradation; while the outer woven layers gives the pool cover its superior strength and durability.

The composite is free of heavy metals, plasticisers and CFCs and has a working temperature range of -40C degrees to +70C degrees.

Style and colour

Style and colour are important features in pool covers as they are a very visible part of pool areas. With this in mind, the Thermotech comes in three fashionable colours:

  • TTB – 4.5mm Thermotech Foam Blue

  • TTG – 4.5mm Thermotech Foam Green

  • TTS – 4.5mm Thermotech Foam Silver

Entry and Exit

The current 3mm ThermoTech covers will be phased out but the great news for everyone is that while we phase out the 3mm, we will be supplying all Thermotech Foam orders in the new 4.5mm at the same price as the old 3mm cover! New 4.5mm prices will be in place when we issue a new Year Book in 2018.

The Extra Mile in Quality and Service

Over the years, Daisy has covered a lot of pools, refining our processes to make it easier to order, install and use. We’ve also added services, products and finishes providing greater flexibility, and to go the extra mile in quality and service.

Some of the extras services we can provide are:

The special fit for special shapes & sizes – custom covers cut to any size, shape, water line or upturn.

Like a lot of things, it starts with preparation.

  1. Once we know the pool measurements and type, a 3D point capturing device is used to plot for fibreglass pools or a 2-point measuring system to triangulate a pool for greater accuracy.
  2. The plan is then emailed for approval
  3. Once approved, all measurements re-plotted and pre-cut using a robotic pre-cut machine. The cover is now ready.

The benefits:

  • Easier installation (even with limited access to the pool)
  • Better fit to the pool.

Edge bind with a PVC coloured edges to one, two, three sides or all around.

  • Looks more aesthetically pleasing
  • Protects any edges that get extra wear
  • Stops tearing if there’s a cut e.g. for a hand rail.

Edge bind with a black woven edge.

  • Easier to handle
  • Looks better

Wind skirt with a black woven edge – with a lead core rope encased to pull the edge of the pool cover just under water.

  • Stops the wind lifting the cover (especially for multiple covers on one pool or covers that don’t cover the whole pool)
  • Holds the cover in place if there’s an infinity or overflow edge (the wind skirting sits below the waterline with the water flowing through the woven webbing)

And more!

We can also:

  • Build in pull cords to fold over sections
  • Attach over covers
  • Add hinge foam for step areas
  • Reinforce or sew extra material as wear strips.
  • Install floats
  • Build in pockets with harnesses and commercial haul cords.

Quality and Service

Daisy uses only the very best Teflon thread to protect against failures. All sewing generally outlasts our pool covers!

Would You Like Fries With That?

You know when you order fast food and the attendant asks “would you like fries with that?” This also applies to the pool industry. Asking if your customer would like a refit kit or an over cover is just like that!

Add-on sales not only help you sell more, it can also save you and your customers time, giving better service and increase the life of their covers and make life easier.

Installation made easy

A refit kit is a great add-on sale because there’s a clear benefit for customers. It saves time and makes life easier (for everyone!), making the installation of a new pool cover to a roller a breeze. The kit has everything you or your customer needs. Keep a few in stock so you can make it even easier to sell or order at any time – Daisy Part Number #092.

What about the white over cover?

While we are talking about covers to existing rollers, how is the white over cover looking? Cover connection kits (and over covers) are supplied with every new roller, but it may be time for the over cover to be replaced.

  • Is there an over cover being used at all?
  • Does the customer know how to use it?
  • Has the white over cover simply come to the end of its life?

Here’s how you will know (if it’s come to the end of its life). Simply hold the over cover up to the sun. Can you see through the over cover where it gets folded? If you can, it means that the sun can get through and damage the pool cover. It’s time for a replacement! Order the right size by measuring the tube length of the roller.

The white over cover will help your customers get longer life from their pool cover. Want to hear more – feel free to ask us.

What’s Trending in Backyards

When style meets innovation

Gone are the days where pool covers and rollers only came in one colour and style option, and too bad if they didn’t suit your backyard!

For over 30 years, Daisy Pool Covers and Rollers have led the industry by constantly innovating with new, on-trend products that fit the bill for Aussie backyards.

With a focus on design and style, we’ve come a long way from the standard white roller and blue pool covers. Aussie families don’t have to compromise their stylish backyards if they want a pool cover or roller.  Today, Daisy has so many options in colour, style, and shape – you can essentially customise your roller and cover to your own back yard!

For example, Daisy’s recently released hot new stainless steel 316ST Rollers are designed to complement the modern pool setting of any backyard. Then of course there is the newly released Daisy Under Bench Roller. It is practical with its multiple uses – a seat and a roller – adding style poolside and is available in three modern colours in aluminium, wood-look finishes. Combined with a titanium blue or green pool cover and well, we’ve got style!

Daisy is constantly reinventing the wheel and looking at new styles and trends that will transform your backyard, lifestyle and the way your entertain.  Explore our website and keep coming back for something new – we love our Daisy but we’re biased!

Buying and Selling a Daisy Pool Cover Should be Easy!

Quote & Close = Selling More!

When a customer asks “how much will a pool cover cost”, what they really mean is “can I talk to you about a pool cover for my pool?”

Rather than jump into attempting to quote and then trying to close the sale just on price, here are some suggestions:

1. ASK QUESTIONS

Ask them what they want from a pool cover? Is it to save water (evaporation control), keep their pool clean or to warm the water? By asking these questions, you’re establishing yourself as a Daisy Expert. As soon as they reply, you’re engaging them in a dialogue and starting to build a trusted relationship.

2. BE THE EXPERT

Start providing some advice – use all the tools we have on the Daisy website in our FAQs and more! If you need any training, just let us know – we’re here to help.

3. START THE QUOTE

Pricing up a quote is as simple as multiplying the square meters of the pool by the pool cover m2 price.

Daisy has made quoting pool covers easy. Every pool cover has a square meter price.

a). Simply measure the length and width of the pool. Then multiply together to get the square meters (length x width = m2)

Example:

8.2m long pool by 3.9m wide. The cover they want is the 525 Blue at $17.50 / m2.

(8.2 x 3.9 = 31.98m2 x $17.50 = $559.65)

b). Step area? If the pool has steps, here’s another opportunity to show your expertise. Here are some tips and FAQs on how to measure step areas.

Mobile? We all have a mobile device that can access the internet. Simply log into the Daisy website to get the latest retail pricing using the quote calculator.

Pop in the pool measurements, select what you want and the tool will calculate the recommended retail price immediately.

4. ASK FOR THE SALE

Don’t forget this! Once you have done all the hard work and designed the solution and price for the customer, ask for the sale!

Some simple questions:

  • What colour do you want? Is it the 525B or Titanium Blue you wanted?
  • Do you want to install this yourself or would you like me to do it?
  • Would you like me to place the order for the cover and roller now?

Oh and add on if you can – what sort of décor is your backyard? Is it modern or contemporary? If modern, why not sell them a 316ST stainless steel roller or compact, why not a UBR which is a great dual purpose product!

The close: A customer is just as busy as you are. The more you can make it easy for them, the easier it will be to close the sale.

Remember, don’t let them walk out the door saying that they’ll get back to you. If they do, try and get their contact details and follow up!

If you need help with a tricky quote or would like further training on measure, install or sales contact your local Daisy Area Manager or email us.
