Pool Covers & Leaves

Solar pool covers help keep the pool clean, but they wont keep all the leaves and dirt (they definitely help though).

So if there’s a sprinkling of leaves on your cover, how do you clean the leaves off when you want to roller it up?

Well, there are a few ways to do this and the best way for each pool shape and location may vary, so here are some options:
If the pool cover is dry
• Use a blower to move all the leaves off
If the pool cover is wet
• Use the pool broom or your cover cleaner to sweep the leaves into one area then remove off the cover with a bucket
Alternative
• Roll up the cover and the leaves will roll forward, collecting more and more in a line as they go. When you get to the end, pick up the last few metres and flick all the leaves behind the roller (easier with two people, one on each side).
Or, like Derek does, just keep rolling the cover off and let all the leaves drop into the water. Then, pick up the pool scoop and simply scoop the line at the end of the pool (you will get most of them this way).
Back before water restrictions, an option was to turn on your filter then use a hose to push it all to the skimmer box. This is not a recommended option any more.

Never a Better Time for a WinterKleen

Autumn and Winter can bring a bit of wind with them, and we know with a bit of wind and weather it can bring an influx of leaves, dirt and debris. If you live in a windy area or get a heap of leaves and dirt into your pool, why not invest in a WinterKleen Mesh Cover? Not only for winter, WinterKleen Mesh Covers are used by many pool owners all year round to keep their pools pristine and clean while still letting the water to drain through! They also are a perfect partner to our range of Solar Covers (Solar in Summer, WinterKleen in winter).

We recently installed a WinterKleen in this curvy swimming pool, with two separate hand rails to account for. If you need help measuring your WinterKleen, contact us today.

Another Daisy Quality Testimonial

We recently received an amazing update from Michelle, a long time Daisy customer:

“I thought you might like some feedback on your pool covers! Our 400 micron Daisy is 7 years old and was going pretty strong – I honestly think it had one or maybe 2 years still left in it – that was until it was shredded in a very bad hail storm recently. The hail was larger than golf ball size and many rooves in our area were smashed so we are not surprised it was damaged. It was always kept on the pool unless we were swimming and it’s on a roller that is covered from the sun. Yes, it was getting a bit brittle but in general for 7 years we have to say it was an awesome quality cover. Thanks Daisy! Let’s hope the new generation of pool covers are even better. Cheers, Michelle.”

We love hearing updates like this, but we are rarely surprised, as we stand by our pool covers and know that they will last the distance unlike some of the cheaper alternatives that are in the market.

Daisy’s Summer Payback campaign announced its third winner this week, with Sue from Boorooma, NSW purchasing her cover from Narellan Pools Riverina and taking out November’s prize of winning her Daisy purchase back!

Sue said, “Wow thank you so much!! I am so excited! My original daisy pool cover should have lasted me a least another year or 2 as it was still in good condition but when we were carrying our large umbrella back into our pool area I fell into the pool and went through the cover!

With what the pool covers saves us we need a new pool cover straight away, we were a bit bummed having to outlay more money for a new cover but we went down that same day and got one and even got a pre cut one because Narellan Pools put in our pool, now look at us I won and I never win anything.”

Zahlia Wins the DaisyDab Competition, alongside 3 other monthly winners

Zahlia Hartley from the Sunshine Coast has won the 2017-18 Daisy DAB challenge winning an iPhone 8 (her choice!). Concluding on Valentine’s Day, it was a hard fought challenge, with Zahlia taking out the competition with 853 votes over summer!

More about the Challenge

For the summer of 2017/2018, Daisy launched the Daisy Dab Challenge! There were three simple steps… All you needed to do to enter was to do a DAB by the pool, submit your entry and ‘Share the Love’ on a voting platform.

The competition was hard fought with entrants sending in their most creative entries to be in to win monthly prizes of a Parrot Drone and $200 worth of pool supplies. However to win the grand prize of an iPhone 8 or Galaxy 8 it was all about who had the highest number of votes!

How Zahlia won

Zahlia had found out about the competition from her mum who used to work at a pool shop in Buderim. Zahlia’s family still go there for their pool supplies, and on a recent visit they learned about the Daisy Challenge through some point of sale material and encouraged Zahlia to enter the.

Zahlia’s creativity sparked into action, and she had the idea to create a video at her little sister’s birthday party! Synchronised DAB’ing was born!

And the deal? Zahlia had a pact with her younger sister that if she won, her sister would get her old phone… win-win!

From the moment she submitted her entry, Zahlia, her sister, and their family constantly ‘Shared the Love’ and worked with their networks to accumulate an enormous 853 votes in total! Great work!

The competition overall was a tough one, with a few strong contenders. Zahlia said that she was “so happy that all of her hard work and sharing so much actually paid off!”

Three worthy monthly winners

The Challenge attracted many creative entries – three of which were rewarded with brand new Drones and spending money!

The three monthly winners were:

  1. November 2017: Jess from NSW
  2. December 2017: Troy from QLD
  3. January – mid-February 2018: Brie from NSW

Congratulations everyone. Enjoy your new iPhone8, drones and spending money!

December 2017 Daisy Dab winner announced!

Troy Douglas wins the Parrot Drone and pool supplies for the best December Daisy Dab! Troy not only got his team mates at work (Contemporary Landscaping) to join in the DAB but he generated the most votes.

Lee Schatkowski from Daisy presented Troy with his Parrot Drone 2.0 and $200 worth off pool accessories that he will be spending at Leisure Pools Sunshine Coast!

Troy was very happy with his prize, saying he always supports Daisy and he really enjoyed getting the Contemporary Landscaping and Leisure Pools teams involved in the Daisy competition!

It is still a very close call who will win the grand summer prize so keep your votes rolling in… The entry with the most votes on February 14 will win an iPhone8 or Samsung Galaxy8! Click to view all entries and vote here.

Here you can see Troy and Lee practicing their Daisy Dab.

November Daisy Dab winner announced!

Jess Turner from NSW takes out the December Daisy DAB competition winning a cool Parrot Drone and $200 worth of pool supplies from Splash’s Pools Tuggerah!

Jess went above and beyond submitting multiple very creative entries and getting over 140 votes too for her efforts. At the presentation of her prizes at Splash’s, Jess said that she had a heap of fun with this because she loved photography and that our Daisy challenges are a great avenue to explore more photography. It gave her the challenge to set up her photos and videos.

Jess’s dad, John, said that she had a lot of fun and put a lot of time and effort into the entries so great for her to win a prize from our local pool shop.

Andrew Clubb from Splash’s Pools Tuggerah said “how good is Jess winning a Daisy challenge twice! What are the chances! Regular customers have had a heap of fun with the photos. Thanks Daisy for having a challenge that helps people have fun around a pool…because that is what pools are all about, fun!”

Here’s Lee Schatkowski from Daisy showing Jess how to fly the drone…. We think you need to take it out of the box first Lee!!

The December challenge is open now, so #getdabbing! Plus the entry with the most votes over summer will win an iPhone8 or Galaxy8!

What’s Trending in Backyards

When style meets innovation

Gone are the days where pool covers and rollers only came in one colour and style option, and too bad if they didn’t suit your backyard!

With a focus on design and style, we’ve come a long way from the standard white roller and blue pool covers.
