Summer 2017 in full swing!

The exceptional uptake of the new Under Bench Roller has been astounding and looking great for 2017 with each UBR custom made to fit each pool’s size and shape.

It’s been a challenge but our amazing team have made sure that UBR deliveries will be maintained to plan in line with our pool cover production which is already in full summer production.

Timing

Orders are showing no signs of slowing down and we have moved extra resources into place so supply will not be interrupted. Whilst the UBR may be a week or two of slow delivery nearing the end of October or early November, we are aiming to keep any disruptions in supply to an absolute minimum. With the ramp up of production, we expect the flow to be consistent from November onwards.

Our commitment to our retailers and our end customer is unwavering and we have production in place to maintain our high level of service and supply for of all Daisy products.

How Cool is a Pre Cut Pool Cover?

Custom cut pool covers are a winner not only for good looks (which come with a good fit), but saves you time and wastage.

For accurately measured pools or pre-manufactured fibreglass pools (where we have the data), Daisy can use ‘the machine that goes bing’ to pre-cut for you.

Whether you want your solar pool cover cut to shape, or your Thermotech foam cover cut out or even a black dig template or blue sales template cut out Daisy can cut it out BEFORE you get it.

Daisy has invested a huge amount of time and resources to make your life easier – just one more way that Daisy is helping you sell more.

Daisy Under Bench Roller is a hot seller

What a launch!

Recently released, the new Daisy Under Bench Roller has been selling fast … in the middle of winter!

Set to be this summer’s hottest seller!

With summer just around the corner, it’s a perfect time to focus on a high selling and on trend product to max your sales. To help you sell more, here are some answers we have put together to some FAQs.

  1. Custom made: We custom make every Under Bench Roller to suit the pool. That’s right, order the UBR to the right pool measurements and we custom build the unit to suit.
  2. Two easy price points: For all 3 colour models, there is a price for a UBR to suit a pool width up to 2.8m and another price for over 2.85m and up to 6.0 meters wide.
  3. How to price: It’s simple! For example – if you have a 4.0m wide pool, the price is for the large size (up to 6.0m) but Daisy will make the UBR seat 4.5m long with a tube length 4.25m long. We are trying to make it as easy as possible for you to sell and for your customers to get exactly what they need
  4. C sections: The small size (up to 2.8m pool) has 1 centre C section while the large size has 2 centre C sections
  5. Height and weight: The UBR has a standard seating height 510mm and is 505mm wide
  6. The hand wheel can be mounted on either size
  7. It can be installed up to 1 meter away from the pool
  8. There are three colour combinations of leg and bench:
    • Clear Anodised seat bench with powder coated anodic colour frames and seat end caps
    • Light Oak wood look powder coated aluminium seat bench with powder coated black colour frames and seat end caps
    • Western Red Cedar wood look powder coated aluminium seat bench with powder coated black colour frames and seat end caps

The winner! The Western Red Cedar has been the most popular since the release to date.

  9. No Over Cover is needed. The seating planks fully protect the pool cover from the sun
  10. The UBR is supplied fully drilled ready to assemble in a flat pack. Installation requires bolting the unit together and then to the ground. We supply the masonry drill bit and anchors to bolt it down
  11. Dispatch is normally within 4 working days, not the normal next working day. If there is a pool cover with the UBR all items will be dispatched together
  12. Want power – stand by! It’s in the pipeline with the timing tbc
  13. Retro fit? The UBR is custom made to the pool size and the tube needs to fit correctly between the frames, so unfortunately it can’t be retro fitted
  14. Demos are available at a cost recovery price. If you are interested contact your Daisy Area Manager

Thanks to those who have already sent through photos after installation. We use these photos and Facebook posts to promote the product and also your business, so please keep sending photos through or tag us @Daisy Pool Covers on your Facebook posts.

The Perfect Fit with Pre Cut and Dig Templates

If you have a pre-manufactured fibreglass style pool, Daisy can pre-cut the pool cover to size so you don’t have to.

Take the risk out of the equation.

Daisy Dig Templates are useful in helping to accurately set out the pool location and mark out the dig on fibreglass pools.

Sales / Dig Templates are used to position the pool in the yard to get the sizing and positioning just right for your customer. It saves time and second guessing as your customer will be able to see the pool and what it will look like in its actual setting.

It’s a great sales tool as well as it guarantees a perfect fit for the pool cover – an easier sell!

What colour would you like?

Dig Templates are traditionally black in colour and made out of durable polyethylene (PE) material.  Because black is sometimes difficult to visualise as pool water, Daisy also has them in blue!

Step Area Tips

Step areas are often tricky business when it comes to pool cover quoting. Let us help simplify the process and share some tips to make it easier for you to measure, quote and answer those difficult questions.

Some frequently asked questions:

What do you mean ‘step area’?

Every Daisy pool cover is custom made and welded in rectangles. If there is a portion of the pool that protrudes out from the main body eg the steps, we can weld on rectangles to cover these sections. The terminology ‘step area’ is the term used to describe the section of the pool cover that we weld to the side.

What if I have a swim out and not a step area?

It does not matter if the section protruding out is a swim area, spa or anything else. For all pool covers, this is still treated as a ‘step area’. We like to keep it simple!

What is the difference between a left or right step area?

Typically a step area is located near one of the corners. If you are sanding at the step area end and looking at the pool, the step area is usually either to your right or left. If it is by your right foot, we call this a Right Hand step area; on the left side, it is the Left Hand step area.

Does it matter where my step area is?

As long as we can locate where the ‘step area’ is, we can weld the additional rectangle to the main body of the pool cover.

What if I have more than one step area?

If you have more than one step area, say you have actual steps on the right as well as a protruding spa also on the right but at the other end of the pool, we would call then a Right Hand step area with a Right Hand Top step area.

How do I best measure up for a pool cover?

When you measure a step area, remember we make the pool cover in rectangles, so we need the length and width of the main body of the pool, then the length and width of the step area. We then weld the two rectangles together to have the one cover.

We will also need to know where the step area or areas are e.g. left or right and if at the end of a pool or somewhere else. If at the end of the pool, we’ll need to know how far from the end of the pool cover it is.

What if I have a different shaped pool?

Don’t worry if you have a unique pool – even if it has lots of curves! All we’ll need is the maximum length and width of the pool and we’ll supply a rectangular cover for on-site fitting.

To measure a step area, remember we are adding it to the main body of the pool cover. If the step area does come outside of the main body, simply measure how long and wide the step area is.

If the step area inverts inwards and it is not further out than the main body, then you don’t need any extra material to cover it. You’ll just have to trim away the excess.

If the pool is tricky, simply take a photo and sketch then email it through to [email protected]. We’re always there to help.

Why are the pool cover supplied from Daisy rectangular?

By supplying our pool covers trimmed and welded as rectangles, you’ll get the one pool cover almost ready to go. All you have to do is trim to exact requirements on site using the swimming pool as the real life template. This minimises the risk if you have a slight difference in your measurements and ensures less mistakes and wastage. Oh and we have Daisy scissors to help if you need a pair.

Do you cover a step area or not?

Generally the answer will be yes.

However, if the step area is particularly hard to get to every time you roll up the cover then we would advise not to cover it. Likewise, if there is a centre step area section, like a seat built into a wall, that is hard to get to, we would also advise to leave this step area uncovered to make using the pool cover easier.

How do I price up a step area?

Pricing a step area is the same as pricing the pool cover. Simply multiply the length by the width (to get the square meters), add the square meters of the step area to the square meters of the main pool size. Multiply the total square meters by the cover price and you’ve got it!

Saving costs: Don’t just take the maximum width of the pool including the step area as the width because once you have cut out the step area there will be a lot of wasted material that the customer has paid for.

How do I roll up a pool cover with a step area?

Step areas are normally at the shallow end while rollers are normally located at the deep end away from the entry and exit to the pool.

To recover the pool cover, fold the step area over onto itself to create a clear line of sight to the roller, then roll up the pool cover.  Folding and leaving the step area folded when it is on the roller is fine.

What are the limitations to having a step area?

In rare cases, the step area is located at the roller end, which means that it will need to be folded at the beginning of the roll. This is not ideal as it will create an uneven roll and will always veer off one way.

The size of the step area can also be a challenge. It is hard to fold a step area that is over 2–3 meters long or over 1m wide.

We can weld a step area to any size, however folding larger step areas can be awkward.

Converting Quotes to Sales

Do you present quotes in person or by email or phone?

How do you get the sale after presenting the quote or even better when you’ve just measured up?

Let’s see how we can help to increase your strike rate…

An email won’t close the sale

Get personal! People like dealing with people and it’s harder for them to say no if you’re in front of them!

If you or your installer has already made the effort to measure up the pool, don’t email them the quote. It’s way too easy for an email to be overlooked or disregarded. If you are in front of your customer to present and explain the quote they are more likely to order from you, especially if you ask for it!

Get poolside with your customer and present your quotes in person.

You will get the best outcome by going over the proposal at their home, even if this is a second visit. Is it more effort? Of course it is…but not compared to burning hours of work quoting then losing jobs for some unknown reason.

Be professional and be prepared

The best way to close more sales when quoting a pool cover is to:

  1. make an appointment when your customer is home
  2. turn up on time
  3. ask what they trying to achieve with the pool cover and roller
  4. give them great advice and an informed solution
  5. and only then measure the pool.

Service is what it is all about, it’s not about price – it is value perception.

Once you have measured the pool and completed the simple calculation to get the price, write down on your quote form the recommended retail + roller + installation and ideally, then and there, present it to your customer.

Ask for the order

Believe it or not, actually asking for the order gets more conversions. Don’t just give them a quote.

If your customer has asked you into their backyard to quote, they want a pool cover. If you have done your job in offering the right solution, don’t leave them hanging by handing them a quote and saying something along the line of “let me know if you want to go ahead”.

Now you have all the information at hand, you can confidently ask for the order. Getting a sale is as easy as saying:

  1. Do you want me to arrange delivery only or would you like it installed?
  2. Shall I have it delivered to the shop or directly here?
  3. Do you want the 525 Blue or Titanium blue?

Then just proceed with writing out the order!

If nothing else – simply say “shall I arrange it for you now then?”

Checklist to close the sale

To close the sale and get the order when you have made the appointment you will need:

  • The customer to be at home
  • Quote form (yours or Daisy’s – see the last page of Yearbook)
  • Daisy Yearbook – it has all the information you need on hand
  • Daisy brochure – a great selling tool
  • Daisy sample swatch – nothing like being able to look & feel
  • 30m tape measure – handy!
  • Product knowledge – ask for Daisy training if you need it

Don’t assume your customer knows how to buy from you.

By helping them through the sales process, you are giving them what they want each step of the way; and you’re actually saving them time by getting the order when you’re there! Be confident in your product and service!

Retailers the Real Winners in Daisy Challenge

IMG_6667a
Derek Prince (MD of Daisy Pool Covers), November Daisy Challenge Winner Jess Turner from Jilliby, NSW and her dad John with her new UE MegaBoom speaker and $500 to spend on pool accessories at Splash’s Pools – Central Coast.

With the final #BestPhotoBomb Challenge draw coming up on 14th February, we asked our winning retailers how they engaged their customers and in turn became winners themselves.

Andrew Clubb (Store Manager of Splash’s Pools – Central Coast) says “the Daisy BestPhotoBomb Challenge was a great promotion to participate in this year. It created some excitement for our customers and it was excellent to see one of our customers take out the prize this year!”

He continued “Daisy contacted us to let us know that one of our customers was the November winner. We were obviously excited! Daisy then organised for the winner to be presented with their prize in our store and for photos to be taken. The photos were used to advertise not only the promotion, but our store too. They went up on the Daisy website and were placed all over Facebook for some great PR for our store.”

“The winner was overjoyed as they received a $500.00 in store credit as well as some other prizes. Excellent promotion.”

Our December winners, Anita and Clint Andrews from WA were also very excited with the win and very keen to use their $500 credit at Pool Logic, Malaga.

Anita Andrews Pool Logic Malaga
Derek Prince (MD of Daisy Pool Covers), Anita Andrews (accepting her UE MegaBoom speaker and $500 of pool supplies) and Pamela Shephard from Pool Logic, Malaga.

Pamela Shephard, Owner/Manager of Pool Logic Malaga said that the promotional material supplied by Daisy made it easy for her staff to tell customers about the competition when they came in for water testing.

Even though Pool Logic promoted the competition on their Facebook page, Pamela was quite surprised by the win – as they had not met this customer before. “It just goes to show that there is a bigger audience that we can reach to out there than the customers that we see instore. Social media can help those new customers find you!”

The Daisy #BestPhotobomb Challenge closes on 14th February, so make sure you SHARE THE  with your customers and your social media and you too could be a winner!

You too can leverage the power of social media to build greater awareness for your store and the products you sell. Here’s some handy tips:

  1. Choose the right social media platform that will resonate and be relevant to your customer. Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest are great for audiences sharing images of family fun or viewing and saving images of home design ideas.
  2. It’s all about content! Make sure you post relevant content that they are interested in. Mix it up with tips on pool maintenance and handy information on some of the products you sell. Add some promotional and sales incentives and get them to share these with their friends. You’ll soon find that you’ll start to grow your fan base.
  3. Keep it going. Make sure you keep your posts up on a regular basis. Try to strike that balance of keeping your brand top-of-mind whilst not being too annoying and blocking up their news feed. We find twice a week works for us.
  4. Risk management. You will need to ensure that you set your company page privacy settings to suit your business. Check out the age group, block obscenities and maybe allow nothing to go up on your wall unless you’ve approved it.
  5. If someone does post a comment or ask questions, treat them as it they’re actually talking to you personally. Answer them! Take negative comments offline by addressing their concerns by private messaging but do acknowledge this openly eg thank you for your concern. Feedback is important to us. We’ll be in touch soon by private message.
  6. Grow your base. Share our posts to create another great source of content for your own pages!

Hope this helps as a starting point.
